Abyssinia is a large church. It’s a place that, if you wanted to, you could slip in and slip out each weekend, and not be noticed. But we believe Jesus intended more for us as His church.

A.P.E.L Health Services
The (APEL) AIDS Prevention & Education for Life Health Service Ministry is a faith-based HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention service. The purpose is to provide reliable community resources for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. We also seek to educate communities through risk reductions, workshops, community forums and sensitivity training in an effort to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. B.L. Wynn Institute
A Bible based curriculum designed to equip Saints to become thoroughly furnished in the word of God. Upon completion of a 13 week semester, credits are given towards a certificate of completion. Our B. L. Wynn Institute is every Wednesday night beginning at 6:45pm – 7:45pm.

Project Youth Link
“Empowering Youth to Take Charge of Their Health and Build Healthy Relationships Through…Community Outreach, Mentoring and Social Networking.”
Project YouthLink started in 2005 as a HIV/STD awareness and prevention program of APEL Health Services Center, Inc. is dedicated to abstinence and preventive services. The major focus of our Youth Community Outreach Services is to offer prevention, diversion, and intervention services targeting youth to stabilize families in crisis, prevent juvenile delinquency, and divert youth at risk of involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems.
Children’s Church Ministry
Our wonderful Children’s Church Ministry provides Sunday worship services geared to minister to children ages 3-12. We have many church members who assist with the kids each Sunday, making sure that they can’t wait until next Sunday and come back. We provide the children with small snacks and also christian based movies and games.
Couples Ministry
The Couples Ministry motivates & guides married couples into being effective Christian couples through bible study, prayer & evangelism. The emphasis is on husbands & wives growing together in their Christian lives. In order to accomplish this, they must provide an environment of support & encouragement in overcoming obstacles that can cause division in their marriage by sharing in their own experiences.
New Generation of Excellence
Designed to develop the physical, mental, social and spiritual life of young people that they may become mature Christians especially in the area of prayer, praise, education, evangelism, and economic stewardship.
Nurses Guild
Provides assistance in the area of healthcare for our members and promotes health fairs that inform members about health issues.
Pastoral Care
Supports and encourage our Pastors as they lead membership to spiritual heights through the preaching and teaching of the word of God.
Sunday School
Teaches the body of Christ the word of God through systematic bible study and develops each member to be an evangelist to the community.
Trustees
Responsible for the overseeing of all church property and assets.
Worship Arts & Music
Enhances the worship experience by glorifying God through praise and worship in song, dance, mime and theatrical arts. Featured choirs are the Mass Choir, T & E Chorale, Praise Team, Celestial Women’s Choir, Youth Choir.
Armor Bearers
Assist the Pastor’s needs such as handling the weapons of the Pastor (bible, books, towels, etc.) Prepare and care for the Pastor’s belongings. Exalt, respect, and uplift our Pastor at all times. Share the dream, vision and goals of our Pastor.
Boy Scouts Pack 151
Designed to build character both morally and spiritually in our children and youths. They are also taught survival outdoors.
Bus Ministry
A ministry designed to be a support to our members and an evangelism tool to unsaved people and those without a church home in the area of transportation to and from church.
Daughter’s of Zion
Women living by the Word of God. Organizers of many different events such as the Women’s Conference.
Deacon’s Ministry
Designed to aid and assist the Pastors in leading and ministering to the church and its members.
Deaconess Ministry
Aid and assist the Pastors and Deacons in leading and ministering to the church and its female members.
Evangelism
Designed to fulfill our mission by going out on a regular basis and witness to the lost. Train new members to evangelize daily.
Girl Scouts
Designed to build character, both morally and spiritually in our children and youth. They also teach survival skills in the outdoors.
Grief Ministry
Vision Statement for the Grief Ministry
To provide spiritual support to those who are mourning the death of a loved one by helping them to embrace their future with hope and love centered in Christ Jesus.
We call it healthy grieving. Caring for people in their journey from mourning to joy in a healthy way. This is accomplished through prayer, home, and hospital visitations, writing of love letters, pamphlets, sympathy cards, workbooks, video presentations and other resources for as long as there is a need. Thus, fulfilling the mission statement of our church, which is to, Love God, Love Self, a Love Others through serving the world. Matthew 22:37-39
Greeters Ministry
Designed to give assistance to ushering and escorting for special church events. Designed for members that feel they have a gift of hospitality as well as a love for people.
Mass Ushers
Meets and welcomes members and visitors to the worship service. This ministry ensures that the rules that govern the worship service are adhered to, thereby, eliminating any distractions that may otherwise interface with the spirit of God.
Prison Ministry
Visits our brothers and sisters in prison. Aids ex-offenders in re-entering society.
Media Ministry
Provides ministry through TV, radio, Print and the web. Records weekly services. Produces weekly television and radio broadcasts. Serves ministries of the church by providing design and print materials. Record events for sale through our bookstore.
Men’s Ministry
Designed to bring together men of God and teach them how to live a responsible, Godly life through study, stewardship, outreach and fellowship. To create an atmosphere where men can feel comfortable supporting one another, mentoring boys, sharing insight and dreams and developing skills that will allow men to feel comfortable in showing love towards each other, their families and Christ.
Mission Ministry
Responsible for feeding the hungry , providing for the homeless and widows, foreign mission. Minsters to the sick and shut-in. Ministers at prisons, hospitals, provides gifts and assistance to orphan children or children in need.
